Lou Casteou, which means ‘The Chateau' in old Provençale French, was built in 1904 by Lord Amherst of Hackney - a lover or antiquities who funded the Howard Carter expeditions to Egypt, and the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb. The property was purchased in 2006 by Chris and Morag Baxter, who restored it to its former historical glory, adding touches of modern luxury - such as a home cinema seating 40, heated infinity pool and professional chef's kitchen. The Chateau is situated in the Esterel Mountains between Cannes and St. Tropez, with sandy beaches, water sports, boutiques and restaurants nearby.
Amongst other accolades, Lou Casteou was selected by Simon Cowell as his ‘judge's house' on The X Factor in 2011.
Turtle PR is also charged with increasing awareness of Lou Casteou's wedding, corporate, and luxury private rental arms. With recent refurbishments, including state of the art technology and restaurant-grade kitchens, Lou Casteou can cater for up to 200 wedding guests or delegates. However, the chateau also caters for more intimate gatherings, with modular reception areas that can be set up as comfortable sitting rooms when not in seminar or party mode. These provide a welcoming environment for entertaining smaller groups of family or friends.
Morag McLaren Baxter, Owner of Lou Casteou states: "We are delighted to start working together with Leila Stocker at Turtle PR; she really understands our proposition, and aspirations for the Luxury Cultural Retreat - the first of many to come. I look forward to together promoting our Chateau, the Retreat and the beautiful Esterel area of France, to the UK market."
